Tasha and Sarah were one of the many couples who faced the challenge of COVID while wedding planning. Tasha and Sarah reached out to me after they had to reschedule their wedding due to COVID, and their original photographer was no longer available on the new date they picked--and while I'm sad they didn't get to have their original photographer, I'm ecstatic because I got to meet two amazing women because of this change in plans! They had legally tied the knot a year ago, but had their big party and vow renewal on June 26th, 2021!
Tasha and Sarah recommitted their I Do's with a beautiful hand fasting at one of the gorgeous outdoor ceremony backdrops at the Atkinson Country Club. They celebrated their love followed by a super yummy brunch (ya'll, seriously, the entire room smelled like cinnamon rolls and maple. It was glorious.) tearful speeches, and lots and lots of laughter!
I hope you enjoy this peek into their day, and thank you for choosing me to be part of this!
Thoughts & Advice from the couple:
What was your Wedding Planning Experience like? How did you feel, how did you handle any stress? Was it easier or more difficult than you first thought?
Chaotic! We had planned an entire wedding with vendors and all for 2020 at a different location with a different photographer, DJ, baker, coordinator, everything! Then covid happened and our venue no longer did weddings, our photographer was no longer available, our DJ wasn't either, our baker tripled their prices, and our coordinator quit her job and the couples weren't informed. Then, mental health issues and homophobia within the family led to a lot of heartbreak, and we lost some family members along the way. HOT. MESS. EXPRESS.
We were back to square one with EVERYTHING. And we wouldn't change a thing. We ended up at what was truly our first choice venue. We ended up with a baker who feels like a friend, a warm and kind DJ, an extremely organized coordinator, and YOU! Everything is happening the way it was meant to and we couldn't be more grateful for this process and everyone we have met along the way.
Advice to couples who are currently planning their Weddings
Trust the process. Trust the bumps in the road. Trust the changes in plans (that WILL happen!), and trust your partner! Keep your heart on what truly matters - unifying your love with your person and spending your day with the people you love most. The place, the cake, the number of flowers, none of that matters as much as it feels when you're in the middle of planning.
A note regarding guest lists: Who are YOUR people, truly? Do you need to invite your second cousin Sally who has never supported you in your relationship, goals, life? NOPE. Invite the people you would call when you were in trouble, or when you have very good news. Invite the people that have supported you in the past, and you know will be a part of your life in the future. Invite the people who have shown support to your relationship and partner, regardless of if that love looks different from theirs!
Lastly, why Destinee LeBlanc Photography?
Destinee absolutely saved us! With our entire wedding having to be relocated and re-planned with all different vendors due to covid, we were heartbroken to lose our prior photographer (who did our original engagement photos a thousand years ago it seems). A friend recommended Destinee to us and we will be forever grateful. From first contact through the actual wedding, our experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. Destinee feels like you're talking with a friend from first contact. She is someone who makes others feel comfortable in their own skin, even when they feel super awkward in front of a camera or as the center of attention! Her friendly, but laid back demeanor puts everyone at ease. I will recommend Destinee LeBlanc Photography at every opportunity!
